Who we are

Control Company is a leader in designing, manufacturing, and selling individually serialized, calibrated and certified Traceable® lab instruments. Our services extend to monitoring systems, reagents, and various precision tools that are to be used during critical, controlled, accredited processes.

With our application of specific knowledge and key influencer/opinion leader partnerships, we provide accurate and efficient instruments that use current technology to improve and simplify the attainment of reliable results that are so imperative among biopharmaceutical and healthcare facilities.

Through distribution partners, Traceable® and TraceableLIVE® products are recognized and sold globally. We value strong and longstanding relationships with the largest and most influential global distributors within the healthcare, laboratory, and industrial industries.

All Traceable® and TraceableLIVE® products include a Traceable® calibration certificate issued from our laboratory, which is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). Thus, each product that we offer is deemed accurate in accordance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards.

Meet the Team

Mike Blazes
Chief Executive Officer

Michael Blazes, aka Rocky, is the Chief Executive and champion for Control Company, the laboratory test, measurement, and monitoring instrument company that has been bringing innovative Traceable® branded products to prominent biopharmaceutical and healthcare organizations and institutions around the world for the past 40 years.

Mike’s experience was founded in education at the United States Air Force Academy, and advanced with a graduate degree from Colorado State University. He has 20 years experience in the laboratory products and equipment industry. He brings a commitment to developing and manufacturing the most reliable biopharmaceutical packaging, research and manufacturing tools, and test measurement and monitoring instruments. By working with key opinion leaders and innovators, Mike and his teams’ focus has always been on leveraging technology and optimized processes to make healthcare more effective, efficient and productive.

What does Mike like to do outside the office? Mike enjoys perfecting his swing at the golf course and loves to spend time with his family.

Steven Krebs
Chief Operating Officer

Steven Krebs is the Chief Operating Officer of Control Company. He is responsible for leading efficient operations in supply chain, manufacturing and warehouse operations, service, finance and accounting, information technology, and human resources.

Prior to joining Control Company in 2016, Steven spent 14 years in the technology hardware and IT services businesses with Dell Technologies in engineering, marketing, finance, and operations leadership roles. Prior to Dell, he spent six years with Cooper Industries in leadership roles in product design, procurement, manufacturing, and assembly of electrical products and electrical construction materials. He most recently served as the Vice President of Operations in the industrial automation business at Cornerstone Automation Systems.

Steven earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Ohio University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

What does Steven like to do outside the office? Besides local volunteer work, Steven serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Ohio University College of Business, is an avid handyman, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Russell de Pina
Enterprise Architect Director

Russell de Pina, aka The Mad Scientist behind TraceableLIVE®, is the Enterprise Architect Director for Control Company.

Russell is involved in open source projects (PPDM, and OpenOffice) as well as being a member of the Houston .NET User’s Group (HDNUG). Russell received his BS in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame(Go Irish!) and an MS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington.

What does Russell like to do outside the office? He can be found either hiking on a mountain or road bike, playing golf, or trying to pursue his real calling of becoming a guitar playing Rockstar!

Kelly Williams
Senior Vice President, Channel Management

Kelly Williams, aka Sunshine Novelist, is Control Company’s Senior Vice President, Channel Management, and has been in the laboratory supplies market for close to twenty years.

Kelly has held a variety of leadership positions in the industry prior to joining Control Company. She was the Global Marketing Director at Kimble-Chase Life Sciences. Additionally, she also served in sales management and product management roles at Chase Scientific Glass and Fisher Scientific.

Kelly graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BA in Environmental Science and received a MS in Chemistry from the same institution.

What does Kelly like to do outside the office? She enjoys sailing with her family and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers win super bowls.

Cindy Gisler
Vice President of Sales and Technical Services

Cindy has worked for Control Company for over 17 years. She started off as a CSR and is now responsible for the Customer Service\Technical Sales group along with sales and marketing for several key accounts.

Cindy graduated from Trinity University with a BA in Biology and then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch and received a Medical Technology degree. She worked as a MedTech for 10 years at John Sealy Hospital before joining Control Company.

Cindy grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas. She's married to her wonderful husband Todd, and they have one son, Zach, who is now working in the Katy area. In her spare time, Cindy likes to spend time in her gardens and enjoys early morning trips to Galveston Island.

What does Cindy like to do outside the office? Cindy is an avid Houston area sports fan from “Love Ya Blue” to “Never underestimate the heart of a champion”.

Clark Doherty
Key Account Manager

Clark Doherty, aka Super Clark, is Control Company’s Key Account Manager. He oversees the sales and implementation of the TraceableLIVE® connected devices and the datalogger portfolio. With his expert knowledge and experience, he helps customers find environmental monitoring solutions that best fit their needs.

Clark attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. His previous work experience includes the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries, where he gained hands on experience using Traceable® Products in real world applications.

What does Clark like to do outside the office? You can find chase/catch Clark on a path of 26.2 miles. He has ran 5 marathons to date, but some would argue that this is to help him feel less guilty about indulging in his other passion: cooking. He's also an avid sports fan, being particularly passionate about his Texas Longhorns, and Houston pro sports teams.

Aaron Judice
Technical Manager

Aaron Judice is the Technical Manager and Lead Innovator for Control Company.

Aaron leads Control Company’s product engineering, as well as its ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ISO Guide 34 globally accredited quality systems. Aaron’s experience developing and manufacturing measurement devices and monitoring systems, as well as collaborating with thought leaders in the laboratory and healthcare industries, has enabled Control Company to continuously evolve its product portfolio to meet the market’s challenging needs. Since joining Control Company in 2008, Aaron has launched over fifty products to market.

Aaron received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Nicol Rodriguez
Quality Manager

Nicol Rodriguez is Control Company’s Quality Manager. She is responsible for the quality system, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, ISO Guide 34 and their implementation.

Nicol graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

What does Nicol like to do outside the office? She strives to be the best mom ever by spending as much time with her family as possible. Some of her favorite activities with her family include Friday Movie Nights and bike rides at the park.

Denise Huynh
Marketing Director

Denise Huynh, aka Denise Gump, is Control Company’s Marketing Director and has over 12 years of experience in her field.

Denise is responsible for the marketing, communication and business development efforts for Control Company. Additionally, she directs media relations, branding, advertising and website development. She manages and oversees sponsorships, events, marketing training and more.

Denise graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in Public Relation.

What does Denise like to do outside the office? She likes to run, run, and run. When Denise isn’t running, she likes to run.

Founded in Friendswood, Texas by Gerald Cooney. Introduced first U.S. to metric conversion calculator.
1981

1982

Control Company introduced the first glycol buffered bottle probe to the laboratory and healthcare market.

Earned ISO 17025 certification from A2LA, becoming a calibration laboratory.

Added new manufacturing and office facility in Friendswood, Texas.

Earned ISO Guide 34 certification from A2LA, becoming a certified reference material producer.
2010
Earned ISO Guide 34 pH certification from A2LA and becomes the only certified reference material producer for pH standards in United States.
2011
Gerald Cooney Retired. Summit Park led a group of investors in the acquisition of Control Company.

Mike Blazes takes the helm as CEO.

Introduced Excursion-TracTM and Memory-LocTM digital data loggers, revolutionizing vaccine and refrigeration monitoring.

Introduced Traceable.com, bringing Traceable® Products to the forefront of research and clinical healthcare market.
